Lightbulb Recalibration following a battery change?

The windows are simple: Press and hold the window down button until the window is all the way down AND you hear a faint "Click" inside the door. Then hold the switch up and do the exact same thing, let it close and hold it until you hear a click. This is to relearn the auto up/down features. It may require you to do it a few times if it does not take the first time. Do that for each door.

The parking brake is not too much different. With the car running, in park, hold down the foot brake pedal and apply the electronic brake (you will feel the pedal go further down under your foot). Then release the electric brake. Repeat that process for 3 or 4 times and it should be good.

That's it.

I have never actually replaced my battery but have disconnected it several times for brake service and terminal cleaning.
I heard of a different method when installing a battery in an XF or any modern car that requires re-calibration. If you have the new battery in hand and have the car running, leave the engine running, disconnect the old battery , install the new and your done. Essentially the same technique as using a battery tender hooked up while you install the new battery only there is no threat of having the battery charge spiking in voltage. Leaving the engine running worked great for me and I didn't have to reset or re-calibrate anything.

It's best never to disconnect the battery with the engine running as the car needs it to prevent over-voltage/spikes from the alternator.

Sounds like you were lucky.

Hi,

Is there a way to reset my door locks? they stopped working after I changed my battery this weekend. Thank you for your time.
