Default RPI Air Intake Scoops ( Calling for CA, XF Supercharged Owners )

I have been in touch with Raceprecision Inc who are better known for working on BMW, Porsche, ect.... They produce these intake scoops much like you would see on a race car. It's a very popular mod on all the BMW forums, so I emailed them some photos of our cars showing them that our nostril like intake that meets the bumper is soooo much like the 3 series and 1 series. They asked if we could get a car out to there shop. It's in Torrance

If they would be ok with it, I could head over there tomorrow mid-morning. They could look it over for a bit and let you know if it's doable. How much discount would I get for being the guinea pig?

I will pm you the guy I have been dealing with. As long as he checks his emails frequently, I see no problem with you heading over. You might want to call. I'm sure you'd probably get a set for free considering it would open a whole new market for them. 2009-2014 all have the same plastic radiator shield. I will email now and see if I get a response. Also check you pm

I just emailed the guy and here is what he said.

Just have him give us a call or email us. We have to schedule a time to be able to fabricate, etc. In the meantime, can you see who is interested? If it works, we need a car to prototype and we need a car to dyno test the product. It will be a custom one time thing so we want to get the pre-orders in before we commit to it.

What kind of benefits are the other cars seeing with those?

If they get an increase in performance I would be in for a set.

Sounds good. We need to see how many XF owners are interested. It would fit 2009-2014 Supercharged, so there has to plenty out there. I think we already have a member in touch with them. Maybe I should start another thread to see the interest.

10 to 15 HP. Go to there site. You can also look at the dyno chart in the pic I posted of a BMW. They are also willing to dyno test on our car if we get one there.

I spoke with the shop today and will have further discussion on Monday. I'll schedule some time to go in and have them look at it first, and if they feel it will work well, they will measure to do a mock up. Then I'll go back and have them install it and dyno.

Thanks Kyanite, I see no reason it won't work. Our intake to bumper is so similar to the BMW 3 and 1 series. Should I start a new thread to see interest, or wait for your schedule with them?

This is great to see. As a former BMW guy, it's been frustrating how few mods are available for our Jags. Keep 'em coming!

Curious as to how changing that scoop would add any power over our stock setup?

The scoop is not being changed. If you take the 3 screws off were the nostrils go into the bumper you will notice it's just holes that lead behind the grill and in front of the radiator. So it's sucking air from the over all grill. These will allow more of a forced air flow directly into the intake. It is dyno proven, and they are gonna dyno our car as well.

The only thing about the dyno reading is that it won't be so significant cause it's only fans blowing versus real driving conditions. I know they work, cause I saw a vid were a guy lit a candle and put near the throttle body and used a leaf blower in front of the grill with no scoop and it stayed lit. Then added the scoops and the candle blew out.

I believe I know the community here and before there will be commitments, there will need to be a firm price and dyno results. So I feel I will need to at least confirm that the concept is sound and get an price estimate before we can get commitments.

Any other thoughts from the possible interested members?

Pending more information (price, details, perhaps a vendor introduction) I would be tentatively interested.

As posted earlier, depending on price/look/performance.

Thanks Kyanite for taking out your time to test fit and be the guinea pig for us here.
