Default small niggling problem

Hiya Jaguar lovers just picked up my 58 plate XF 2.7 Premium Lux and boy was it a pleasure to drive,so smooth coming up the motorway a little different from the previous X Type ( but never will forget it was good to me ).
Never had keyless before and getting used to locking posed a few problems but think after a double click I got it now. However tonight whilst popping along to the local supermarket upon switching on I noticed a warning sign flash up on the menu stating "the battery was low and the radio would cease operating in 3 minutes" even though the radio was not on.I am assuming this is probably due to the car standing out for sale in the cold weather but I would have thought during the checks carried out by the garage prior to sale that would have been sorted. When collecting the motor today I drove about 30 mile back home and would have assumed the alternator would have done some work to put in some charge.
I would be obliged if anyone might shine a light on this problem assuming there is a problem.

This "three minute warning" is standard on all XFs.
It's designed to protect the battery from being drained, as the XF electrical system imposes a big load on the battery.
That said, a healthy battery is critical to the operation of an XF, and they commonly start to fail after about four years, so maybe it's time you had your battery tested and possibly replaced.

Sitting on the lot probably did kill it, especially if they at some point let it run down a bit. Killed mine recently by leaving the trunk open too long one afternoon in the garage and it was just too old to recover.

Bought one of the AGM batteries and it's really solid now. I'll never go back to a regular lead acid battery in any vehicle I own. They just don't recover as well.
