Default solution for a blue rear view camera screen on a xf

So I'll post this cause I've seen some of you have or had the same problem whit theirs rear view camera (blue screen) ! and thank to RaceDiagnostics because of his hints on how to repair a dead boot lid button, actualy helped me solve my back up camera problem.

The problem is located in this caoutchouc part of the boot lid. In fact, a couple of wires must be cut off.

All you have to do is disconnect the yellow wire of the camera and the black block ! than you follow the wire and disconnect the same wire that are located in the right corner off the trunk.

Than you strip off the tape from the wire and locate those who are cut or almost cut and you put them back together ( make sure you put each one with the right one ) then put some caoutchouc over it to seal it and tape it back.

Now, that's a 25 cent word! Though I I don't think this particular piece would be considered "natural rubber"...

Thanks for the post, although the camera issue does not apply to me, yet...

On the other hand I wonder what was the solution to fix the boot lid button? Mine on my 2012 XF has been replaced by the dealer, yet, it still tends to be intermittent.

thanks for the help, just fixed a pair of broken wires myself. Guessing eventually I'll need a new wiring harness, but for now it's working.

This is a terrific post on the blue screen backup camera. A couple of additional points. When you open up the rubber shield that houses the wiring between the trunk (boot) and the car body you will find a bundle of black wires. In my case there were three broken and two on the way. The Coax video cable was fine and more robust, but the other black cables are clearly not quality nor capable of withstanding opening and closing the trunk/boot lid.
There is a connector IN the trunk lid at one end of the wiring bundle (as shown by jaguarxf8 above) and another in the opposite body end. Find both of these and disconnect both to determine which broken wires need to be reattached to their mate. Otherwise you are guessing, so be sure to use a continuity check at both ends through the connectors to match the otherwise identical wires. I assume that these wires included power to the camera and hence the blue screen.

Finally, based on the fact that there are connectors at both ends of this bundle, it is likely that Jag has a replacement part that would be an easy fix to do by the dealer or at home.

I just had the same problem on my 2009 XF, except not only was the trunk not opening without the key, the rear camera was blue, and one of my license plate lights was not working. After opening up the rubber boot I found 3 broken wires, one of which was the coax cable for the camera. My soldering iron went on vacation somewhere in the lost isles of 'St. who knows where' so I went with some butt connectors and spliced them together that way. Electrical tape to insulate them all. Now the trunk lid opens normally with the button, fob and the trunk release dash button. The camera works too, but is really dark, I'm going to assume ground or poor splice is likely the issue with the camera. I think I may just pull the entire harness out and rebuild it with all new & more robust wires. For now it makes the wife happy as she no longer has to use the emergency key!

Default Trunk Release Button and Backup Camera Fixed

Quick note to thank previous authors for posting, this thread helped me diagnose and fix two problems at once. My external trunk release button stopped working months ago, but I made no attempt to investigate as dash button and key fob continued to work. Then my backup camera started going out, intermittently. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. The failure frequency increased until last week it stopped working completely. Reading through this thread made it obvious to me that the likely culprit was the "harness link lead, boot XF saloon". I will spare the details, but research led me to an outfit called Terry's Jaguar Parts, who kindly showed me to the website https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic.com which has an excellent interface that is useful to identify part numbers. Using that I identified the correct wiring harness part for my car (C2Z19626), which I then ordered from Terry's for $132.91 on Tuesday and received at my front door on Thursday! Genuine Jaguar part, simple to install and fixed both problems. Most difficult part of the entire project was popping off two plastic "button" fasteners holding the right side trunk liner to the body. Getting the old connectors apart was also a bit difficult, but the rest was a breeze. Hope this helps someone else.
