Default Suggestion on what to replace leaper hood ornament with

Super pumped about the 2013 5.0 Supercharged XF I bought today. Unfortunately, the PO ruined the hood with a leaper ornament. Any suggestions on what to use to replace it? I have seen a couple of round "growler hood badges that would cover the two holes that I think would work (not ideal, but much cheaper than an aluminum hood repair/repaint). Its a shame, but the leaper must go! Anyone have any pics of what they have used to replace/substitute the leaper with? Thank you.

I've never seen or heard of such a repair, but I agree the leaper has to go, it does not belong on an XFSC.
That area of the hood is reasonably flat, so I reckon you could get away with filling the holes, sealing them, then applying a sticker or decal rather than a badge. A "growler" sticker would probably be best, I think they exist on eBay.

Congrats on the new car!
Does the hood definitely have holes - some leapers are stick on

I'd say - fill the holes and have it resprayed. You want it to look good!

Good thinking.
Best bet is to remove the hood lining and have a look.
Not that hard to do, about 12 clips and 4 scrivets.
Just cover your engine bay with a blanket or tarp etc first, as when you remove the lining it will drop a heap of crud!

One badge might look like it belonged, but two might look weird. I suggest find a local "hot rod shop" and ask about a local pinstriping or airbrush artist. Perhaps they could fill the hole and paint a discreet little "tattoo" that would sort of hide the blemish for considerably less than painting the whole hood? Just don't let your teenagers get any ideas from it.

Trust me...I wish it was just stuck on with adhesive. When you open the hood, then lean in and look up into the hood latch area, you can clearly see the top pin sticking through, then the large whitish nylon nut securing the leaper. Probably going to try the growler emblem first. It is higher up on the hood than what I think would look best, but I don't see another option right now. Thanks for the replies.

it might not make financial sense to fix the hole. you might just be able to cover it with a badge
