Default Thermostat Help

2009 XF Luxury Premium Not SC

Has anyone used an aftermarket?

I ordered a replacement thermostat off of Amazon - Stant #14748. It looks nothing like the OEM. The Stant website also shows this unit as a fit although their part cross reference to the Jag number is wrong.

I also noticed that the one of the shoulders that hold the OEM thermostat in place is broken off. No telling where that piece of plastic ended up.

Check out https://www.jaguarparts.com/partscat.html

I was able to see that the thermostat part is #AJ811788. You should be able to find your missing piece there as well.

I would return the part that doesn't look like the original and buy the one shown on this site.

I let Stant know that their part was not compatible. I got, "...well that's what the chart shows....". The "missing part", it actually a piece that has broken off the plastic housing; not replaceable.

Gaudin Jaguar out of Las Vegas has been a live saver for me. I was able to buy the parts for a very fair price. They even steered me to buying a different component that included everything I needed as well as another piece that, being Jaguar, will eventually require replacement. The price difference was about $2.

I can't recommend these guys enough. Best prices and very responsive. Just to ensure that they were sending me what I needed, they sent me an photo of the parts from their cell phone.

At this point, I am on to auxiliary coolant pump replacement. Just when I got everything else back together and was testing for leaks, I see the electrical connector to the aux pump smoking and melting.

Thanks for your input.
