Default Throttle response from standing start

Hi there,

I’m really enjoying my 2011 5.0 n/a. It’s so enjoyable to drive - different to but in many ways similar to the S3 v12 that I had.

Anyway, from a standing start the throttle response is not as smooth as I expected. There’s a slight delay followed by a little kick. Note that this is for very mild driving; I’m not booting it. There may even be a little delay with slight throttle applied when moving but I haven’t concentrated on that.

What should I try? A hard reset? A throttle recalibration? I can’t do a TCM reset at the moment but maybe in 2 or 3 weeks it will be possible.

Thanks for your help

have you had this for a while and it's now doing it? or only in cold weather? does it behave differently in other situations? does it creep forward in gear as it should without touching gas? does it do same thing in reverse as you note in drive? is it in 1st gear or is it perhaps in 2nd gear(snow mode) for starts and then shifting down into 1st when you accelerate? is this on flat or hill or?

Try snow mode, that makes the beginning part of the throttle extend in the pedal so you have more starting control.

Snowmode holds the first couple gears too long while engine is cold though so I don't use it much in the morning freezing cold but I have used it when the car is warm and on warm summer days for testing.

Also switch between dynamic and normal mode, the computer needs to learn your driving style.

Lastly if you have a chance make sure the transmission control unit and other power train software is all up to date.

Update: I cleaned the throttle body. It seems to have improved the take-off smoothness a lot.

Clean the MAF sensors too. Made a huge difference for me.
