It could be there was an intermittent problem of some sort with the sensors(perhaps not the battery). I suppose if I have no fault messages for 2 months, then that was indeed the problem.

I'm beginning to think many TPMS difficulties stem from incorrect "learning " procedures. In my 2009 owners manual a specific learning procedure was stated. This is not in my 2013 Owners manual. I have always followed the procedure when new valve stems are fitted and have not had a problem.

I am also beginning to think that TPMS issues are often solved by dealers by manually entering the sensor codes into the TPMS ECU. Since they must do this whenever a new ECU is installed or new receivers I suspect a lot of parts are being replaced unnecessarily.

It might be worth asking the dealer to enter the TPMS codes manually before replacing any parts.
