Drove up to NYC and back to Charlotte, NC in the XF, what a great road trip car! On the way up we drove all the way with only gas stops, about 600 miles. Used the cruise set at 5 mph over the posted limits of mostly 65 or 70. Saw 26.2 mpg average on the way up, pretty good.

On the way back I used the right foot and drove it, hit 140 mph a few times and pretty much kept it 10-15 mph over the speed limit which resulted in 24.8 mpg average for the whole trip, there and back plus a little around town driving while there, not bad.

By far the best feature of the car for a road trip is the cooled seats, they keep you feeling refreshed.

I love this car, 73k miles on it now and it looks, drives and feels like a new car!

OK, how about a round trip to California from my home in early September? 5,500 km or 3,300 miles averaging about 30 mpg in my 4.2. I observed posted limits mostly. A wide variety of roads and scenery from high Sierra type scrub desert to foggy coastline and winding mountain roads just begging for Sport and manual shifting.

I have no doubt it has lots of life left in it. I did change out every fluid in the car and the spark plugs at about 65k miles. I'm sure regular maintenance type issues will pop up from time to time but physically the interior and exterior have held up extremely well.

I will be keeping it for a long time to come, whenever I park it somewhere I always look back at it and think 'damn my car looks good!'

What have you done to keep the leather (especially on the dash) in good condition. I plan on keeping my car for a long time and would like to be able to do things now which will help me later?

I use Lexol regularly on all the leather and never park it outside without the windshield sunshield in place. The previous owner was meticulous as well. My co-workers or anyone who gets in the car never believe it is a 2009 with 70k+ miles on it. It really does look and smell like new, the design of the interior is timeless which contributes to the new look. I have the ivory/oyster interior that I think looks fabulous.
