Default Xf reliability?

I am thinking about buying a used xf. Probably a 2009-10. Have there been any issues? I dot want to be making repairs every month. Also how is the tire wear I these with 19" rims.

Reliability is very good. Make sure any XF you buy has had all factory servicing completed. Especially the transmission selector mechanism, electronics were initially faulty. All faults in early models should have been corrected by now. Fuel filler flap still gives trouble even after being fixed. Otherwise, just go buy one. They are so cheap used.

not to mention that you'll get the 5.0 in the '10 rather than the 4.2 in the '09

If you only care about reliability and gas mileage Jaguar is not your brand. If you are looking for a quick (XF) or fast (supercharged/xfr) car Jaguar is for you. Most people look at an E class and couldn't tell you if it was a 80k E63 or a 40K E350, additionally there is a E class at every light in every parking lot its a common car. When you drive a Jaguar you will very rarely see another one. No one knows how much your car cost but they assume it was a fortune. If you don't like attention Jag is not your car. Women will approach you or make comments. Men will stand around it and take pictures.

Xtra Fast-It's tough work owning a JAG, deflecting all that attention.

Another thing to consider is the remaining warranty on a lot of '10's still out there. I ended up getting an '11 which still had 4 1/2 years of warranty remaining (2011 models came with 5yr/50k miles). So, I bought a used car with more warranty than my wife's new Infinity we purchased earlier in the summer.

Car goes to the shop tomorrow for my first oilchange...

2010 XF Premium. Zero reliability issues. Almost 15K miles and time for first service. I recommend buying from a Jag dealer CPO. 2 years bumper to bumper warranty plus 2 on drive train. I still can't believe 15K miles between oil changes.
Best car I have owned so far and even here in the silicon valley I go weeks before seeing another XF. I see Mercs and Beemers everywhere.

I had a 2010 XF Premium for 3 years, sold it with 42K miles. There were no mechanical issues with the car (although I did have some concerns over the occasional transmissions clunks when I slowed down, however that went away over time as the adaptive transmission adapted!!).

I had a lot of aesthetic issues. Rear stop lights (LEDs out), rattling roof console, rattling rear passenger door, ill fitting rear parcel shelf, Jaguar Sense lights in roof console faulty and bubbling dashboard. All were fixed with the exception of the bubbling dashboard which was going to be repaired under warranty by the next owner.

Overall the car was not as well built as I would have liked, but the car was thoroughly likable and great fun to drive. Still one of the best looking in its class. I sold it since I needed something with better fuel consumption as a daily driver.

You need to have warranty, no big issues. But I had lots of small issues such as trunk button, tpms````
Overall, it's a great car.

Had a 3.0 S Prem Lux for 2 years - not many problems, but let me down spectacularly when the intercooler burst apart.

Traded it in for a 3 month old facelift, same model, in June 2012. It's already been back once for the tank slap fix, now it's back again for 8 different problems, including a very coarse engine.

My second and last Jaguar.
