Transmission issue
Has anyone ever just did a flush and refill without changing the pan/sleeve. My mechanic threw this idea at me but I'm not sure how I feel about not changing out the filter (built into the pan). I'm assuming most of the value of the transmission service comes from actually swapping out the fluid but not sure if keeping the old filter in would be a bad long term idea.
First..how many miles on the original filter/fluid?..If more than 60K, it is suggested to change the pan/filter too..If it is less, say around 40K, then just do just a flush refill..My dealer suggests the same approach...the magnets in the bottom of the pan hold the metal junk so that won't break free...But, it's the high mileage sludge that might break free during a flush and plug the filter more....All iffy to me
If you can afford it and for peace of mind..I'd do the whole pan/filter deal..Why cut a corner for sake of a few extra bucks, is all I'm saying.

131k km. So around 80k miles. I feel the same way. Plus I want my mechanic to inspect the pan and make sure there isn't a ton of metal shavings floating around in there before he blows the old fluid out of the torque converter.

Honestly if you do have sludge in your trans, your trans is already on its way out. The same holds true with excessive metal. I never do flushes only fluid exchanges (NO CHEMICALS OTHER THAN NEW TRANS FLUID IS USED), then I change the pan filter and refill. Magnets will pick up the steel and iron, but not the brass, aluminum or clutch material that is also present in your used trans fluid .Please note the quote highlighted in red below. Trans fluid is mostly detergents and anti foaming agents, so it accomplices great cleaning on its own, it's the dirt suspended in that trans fluid you want out.
I agree. I'll be having my shop do a full flush and refill including replacing the pan/filter and sleeve.
Not good guys, gave back my car for a repair, they changed oil and pan, they drove a several miles and rang me that the car now jerks and has a problem with changing gears starting from 1-2, the took it back on Monday to the garage, tomorrow should be an answer. I am without a car since 23th April

But why after oil change it got worse?
Spoke to them today, they said there is no faults on the gearbox, but problem exists, Monday they will strip down gearbox, fantastic

True, just one of the problems I'd look at based on your issues.
I'm not sure I'd want these guys stripping my transmission.
If you're suggesting that they didn't do the drain properly and then overfilled the tranny I'd be suspicious of this too especially seeing it's developed a hard shift AFTER the work they've done where it was slipping beforehand.
