Default weeping air bleeder?

Dear Listers,

Can anyone tell me what this is? I believe it is the "air bleed" location for the coolant system. It is "weeping" coolant. Now it hasn't lowered the level of coolant in the reservoir but I know its not supposed to weep. Any thoughts on how to get it to stop? It the round thing with the cross on it (But I'm guessing you all already figured it out.) This is the wife's daily driver and I really don't want it to let go on her.

Thanks,

Brian Smith

Hi Brian

Yes, this is the air bleed location for the heater coolant pipes. These screws are prone to leaking, unfortunately Jag only sells the complete tube as far as I know. I'd guess that this https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-LR055...BoCxU4QAvD_BwE would fit, but I never tried.

When I did the coolant pipes job I found mine un-cracked and simply exchanged the o-ring on it.

Cheers
Chris

Yeah, could be something as simple as a new o-ring needed.

However, since these bleed screws are the same size/design as on BMWs, I highly recommend replacing it with this anodized one, as the plastic will eventually snap anyway. I have it and it's great.

Can you tell me which BMW models have the same bleeder valve as my XF?

Thanks

According to the fitment list on Autozone's site for a plastic replacement, most of them.

Hi Chris. Did you replace the metal pipe that has the bleed screw on it and if so how long did it take and any tips? Thanks, Rob

Sorry, I did not exchange that pipe. Does not seem easy though.
