Default Weird call from Jag dealer today...

Hey all,

So I answer my phone this morning around 10:45 am .. and a woman comes on and says they are calling from local jag dealer (who I use for service) and asked if I would be interested in selling them my car...

I said I am not looking to lay out more money for a new Jaguar, or some kind of scam to offer me wholesale and then lease something new...

she said sir its not like that... We like your individual car as we were looking at record and want to buy it...

It is a fully loaded 09 XF S/C - procelain white on spice interior with the optional SELENA 20" wheels (gorgeous). Car has like 24k miles too and is a late model 09 - May 2009 Build date).

So I said well I am always open to offers (like any business man) - She was quite accommodating asking if I wanted to come in during the week or on Saturday and had anytime open I could make it in.

Has anyone had their dealer call and do this?

Seemed really weird. I said I have no interested in another Jaguar, and just said that they wanted MY car and would pay me for it and I can walk away...

Do you think they have someone looking for a CPO White on spice? Who gave them a high sealing to work with and my car matched it in the system?

or is this to just get me in a new/leftover 2011 ... etc. BS (didn't seem like this, as I have gotten these calls from random dealers before).

Lots of dealers try to buy cars....especially when the used car market is hot. They generally offer "wholesale book" or less....sometimes way less.

Of course whenever they can get a body *into* the dealership they're halfway to a sale :-)

Cheers

Assuming you sold it, what car would you be buying with the cash burning a hole in your pocket ?

Good question. I really haven't thought about it much.

It was very random and unexpected the phone call.

I would at least drive the new 2012 E550 4Matic Mercedes... its over 400 hp now and bi turbo... so the tuning options soon should be really good for probably close to 50-80whp.

yeah they send out letters about "your local dealer wants YOUR car" too, dealerships are trying to increase their quality used inventory, and if you bought your car new they figure you might want to buy another new one.
