This week I purchased a 2011 XF 5.0 Premium with less than 60,000 km on it. I'm still exploring it and wishing I had spent more time inspecting it prior to purchase ... but it's too late now! I noticed a cable plugged in to the AUX port which I'm pretty sure is not original spec (see pic). Any ideas what it might be and how to find out? BTW, I'm located in South Korea and asked on a forum here and the response was about Bluetooth, but I'm not sure that's correct.
Thanks

Find the other end, definitely not stock so nobody here would know for sure what the previous owner was getting up to. You can just unplug it and the aux option should work for any of your own devices.

Yep. Already tested that the port works. I posted in the hope that I wouldn’t have to start disassembling things.
If it's the silver one at the top of the picture, isn't that the old Apple connector? If so, you can connect a Bluetooth receiver like the Tube2Air and stream music over BT to the car. (The 2011 allows you to BT connect to a phone for calls but doesn't have streaming BT audio built in so you need a small receiver device)
After playing around in the car today, I now suspect the cable might be from the 3rd party nav systems that were fitted in this market. The systems have digital audio and DMB video functions but I haven’t got them working yet to test my theory. The nav audio seems to play from a dedicated speaker somewhere on the driver side dash. The nav audio doesn’t play through the audio system but I expect the DMB video would. It’s important to have quality movie sound while you’re driving!

This is correct.
I also bet the aux is connected to an BT reciever somewhere (shich will allow only streaming music to the AUX)
It looks like yhou have the iPod cable there (silver connectgor in the picture.)
You need a "tune to air connector ( like mentioned above) to stream music and control through the touchscreen. Works well, I had one in my 2011 XFR. Here is a set so you can see how it works.
