Default XF 2009 Bluetooth audio options

I'm about to pick the car up with just an aux input but the minor inconvenience of not having my phone automatically connect to the car (except for calls) is really putting me off. Although I'm not too upset, as even the new models don't even link to your phone screen while I could drive some French rubbish and have a load of gadgets.

I've seen adaptors that connect to the CD changer (I no longer own CDs) which enable control via the steering wheel buttons but none stated as XF compatible.

What about actually upgrading to the desired OEM hardware? Is it just the Bluetooth module or more?

3.5mm adaptors are probably my last option although I suppose I could have one which is permanently on while the car has power, which would be tucked away in the glove box, and simultaneously keep my phone connected to the car's Bluetooth for calls, as luckily Samsung can accommodate dual devices.

Welcome to the forum, when you get a moment stop by our New Members area.

The factory iPod/USB interface can be retrofitted, and then you add a WMA1000 dongle and you have Bluetooth streaming.

Have a look here https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...2011-a-199323/

I have a friend in Warwickshire who can do the retrofit, it's not plug & play, needs some programming to make it work, but he's done a few of them now for people.

Thanks. I quite like the idea of USB to play from a flash-drive too (presume it will also accommodate that) but I had that on a £100 Halfords DVD head unit in my old XJ, so to pay what I assume will be hundreds for an install just to be able to pay another £90 for a 3rd party attachment seems a pricey solution!

The CD changer adaptors are about 50 quid

I'd probably only go for anything with an expensive install if it were the upgraded hardware, but I understand that's would be the entire nav system.

Having done a bit of research it seems the USB interface is the only OEM solution, but that's surprising especially as that only goes part way to solving the problem
