XF 4.2 and XFR 5.0
Hi guys I just signed up to the forum and have a few questions if anyone can help it would be great.
I own a XF 4.2 sv8. I have owned the vehicle for a few years now.. going back a couple of months my friend borrowed my car and it resulted in a bit of an incident taking place where he had a accident. Basically the front end is now damaged.
I want to get it repaired and was wondering whether the 5.0 XFR would fit.. by fit I mean the engine.. would the box have to be changed? And wiring loom along with ecu of course? The issue is the engines not sitting too great and has been damaged a little.
I have been offered a 5.0 XFR engine complete with front end as it' the rear damaged on that vehicle.
is it worth it or should I source the 4.2? If it was just panels I would have gone for the XFR parts but as it's also engine also I don't want to have to then later get myself a 4.2 engine after buying the damaged XFR if that makes sense.
any help would be appreciated. Thanks

This has been discussed before, and bottom line is it's not possible without completely replacing the wiring looms and a few other things, and even then it may not be possible to get the various computer modules to talk to each other as they should.
A huge amount of money and labour with a small likelihood it would work.

Does anybody know whether just the body panels of the xfr would fit the sv8? My ones a 2008 sv8 so would the front end of the xfr 2008 fit onto mine? Plus does anyone know upto which year they would fit, for examole would a 2014 fit onto a 2008 if the wings bonnet bumper headlamps slam panel etc was changed?
no problem xfr prefacelift front end to xf sv (jus tuse all bumper with lower quard.
xfr facelift to sv8 also possible9some extra pastics required. but its quite coslty solution as you will need buy WHOLE bumper absolutely with everything, wings(older tyre quard plastic can me modified. bonnet , headlamps. if yours SV8 is ACC(like mine) cusotm mounting of module is needed.
headlamps pins shoudl be repositioned, and slight modified(when used with old lamp control modules) AFS lamps (not confuse with statics bending lamps) was not availabe on prefacelift so you need normal non afs lamps.
roughly it will cost anywhere from 3500EUR (buying everyhing cheaply) to 7000-8000EUR. I decided to go to XFRS front end , 70% of job completed already.. hope this helps.
