Default Xf a/c issues

My 2009 Jaguar XF is having a problem where the AC won't blow out of the center two vents. All of the other vents seem to be working just fine, the footwell vents might even be blowing more than normal. If this is something I can DIY fix, does anyone know the steps to doing so? If not, has anyone else had this problem repaired and know what it would cost to fix?

At a guess, one of the stepper motors that control the flow of air is misbehaving. This may be something you're able to diagnose yourself (though likely requires digging deep up in the dash) or it may be possible for the dealer to diagnose which motor is faulty with the Jag software.

A lot of Ford parts in that car, and Fords/Lincolns are infamous for having the blend door mechanisms break around 10 years old. Yours is in the worst possible place. It's a huge job to get into the dash to replace that one. Reminds me, I need to sell my XF's in a year or two before all of that starts falling apart.

Well lets go with the more common problem??

Try changing your DCCV first. They are a known failure item and all will fail eventually.
Thankfully Jaguar removed this on the 5.0L V-8!

He said he is not getting any air out of the center vents. The DCCV controls coolant flow, not airflow. I think he wants to solve his right now problem, not do a bunch of preventative maintenance for things that aren't broke.

Sorry for the late response, I lost my log in info so I've been MIA... i've since had the issue fixed with my local jag repair shop (not the dealership). as it turns out it was an issue with the AC solenoid which had gone out. all in it was a $500 problem. hopefully this helps with anyone who might run into the same issue!

Don't get too excited just yet, clubby. I didn't see a part number for what failed. People confuse terms all the time, so who knows what they called a "solenoid."
