Is XF insurance more than competitors'?
I'm in the process of getting an XF, and I've run into a very high quote from my insurance company, which is now stalling the purchase. My question is, is the insurance coverage for a Jaguar XF V8 generally significantly higher than that for a competitor, such as a 5 series BMW or a Lexus GS?
I can't tell you in relation to ze Germans, but, in Canada, it was only 10 pcnt or so more than a Mazdaspeed 3 for an XFR.
Probably tells you nothing for your comparison but I was pleasantly surprised and amazed. Something that doesn't often happen when gettng an insurance bill!

Insurance really is specific to the carrier, car and the region. Moving to Westchester, NY from downtown DC, insurance was twice as much with Progressive. I switched to Gieco and paid the same as what I was previously paying. Some carriers seem to mark up some cars and regions more than others. Generally, I don't like to switch insurance companies that often. But it is worth looking if the quote comes in substantially higher than expected. In my experience, the XF and a similarly optioned A6 are roughly the same.
it depends on the vehicle as caviarjag states , insurance policy is for specific vehicles, as the price of the MSRP vehicle + milage use (changes of deductable)
for example the XF Supercharged should be about the same as a BMW 550,
It will cost more than a different class of vehicle such as BMW 3 series or Mercedes C class
Lexus ES
It'll be similiar priced as a BMW 5 series, Mercedes E class, Lexus GS class etc etc.
Ofcourse depending of which XF you get will change the insurance price as well. the 4I vs V6, vs V8
My M3 insurance policy for full coverage and low miles (I have multiple cars so I put low mile usage on it) was 137, as my XF Supercharged is 97 ? give or take.
how ever for an XFR i was quoted same as my M3
So is Jag more than other cars ? no not really. Not much to consider it a major price difference anyways.

Thank you Kyu! I thought that there was something amiss here. I pay about 100/mo full coverage for a 2006 530xi, and the 2012 XF v8 my ins co quoted me a little under four thousand for six months!!! I was shocked, but I see now that the problem is not the Jag. Which is good news
That's odd, I'm in my late 30's in Western Canada in an XFR for a hair over $100 per month. I can't imagine that risk of collision is higher here or that collision repair costs are higher...nor liability for that matter. Definitely time for a different insurance company.

I'm 30. I'm paying about $75/month in Minneapolis,MN with State Farm for the XF. As far as quoting for 2 cars at once keep in mind that if you insure 2 cars for one person the second car is usually heavily discounted because you normally wouldn't drive both at the same time. When I add my other car which I'm also the primary driver it's about half it's normal rate.
