XF SC 36,000 miles problems are popping up
1. You can get a coolant tank for about $100 plus coolant and swap it yourself in a few minutes. There are a few used ones here: Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market (Look under radiator overflow bottle).
2. It's a bulb. Get a replacement and do it yourself. Should be under $100.
3. No idea what could have failed. If it bothers you run a few searches online to see if anyone else has had the issue. It's not worth $1600 in my opinion.
4. Previous threads have stated that the induction elbow is a pain to get to. I guess it's down back behind the supercharger near the firewall. I can't see why it would ever cost $2400 for a vacuum line. Find someone else to do it.
Good luck!

I picked up my car today. As I was pulling up I saw her ALL DIRTY. Now, I did drop her off dirty but usually when I drop her off for service they wash her. I had a huge smirky sarcastic grin on my face as I was shaking my head thinking WOW they couldn't even wash her. I paid their $130 diagnostic fee and they gave me a free bottled water and I left. I'll wash her myself.
Taking her to my mechanic today. We'll be buying OEM parts and doing the work ourselves. I'll report back with our progress.

Let us know how it goes!
I just bought this coolant expansion tank $40.
1) since one headlight went out should I replace just the one or should I replace both?
anyone have a link to ones I should buy?
2) where exactly is the induction elbow? does anyone have a diagram for where it is.

Hey man, if you ever think about bringing your car down here to be fixed, I can give you the address to Victor's Service Center. They specialize in Jaguars and their rate is so much better than the dealership. When I joined the Jaguar Club this month, they directed me to there. The labor rate there is only $85/hr as opposed to the $175/hr at the dealership

@neogod, thank you. My mechanic will be working on it once I gather all the parts. If he can't fix the elbow induction I'll be sure to take it to SA. I'm located in San Marcos so SA isn't far from me at all. I already got the expansion tank, I just need to get headlights and then the elbow induction
Can anyone help me find the rest of the parts I need to complete the repairs on my car. I don't want to buy them from the dealership. I already purchased the tank. I just need the headlight and the induction elbow. I'm not going to worry about the sun visor lol. I attached a copy of the work order I paid for from the Jaguar dealership which includes the part numbers. I don't have to have OEM parts. Links to where I can find these items would be greatly appreciated. Thanks gentlemen

Try a Google search for each part number listed and do the same for Ebay. If you can't find them that way you'll have to search the old fashioned way and sift through the entries until you find what you're looking for.

UPDATE:
Replaced HID headlight for $100
Replaced COOLANT WARNING SENSOR part number C2Z6566 $15
Jaguar of Austin wanted to replace the whole EXPANSION TANK even after I told them I smelled no coolant and I had been monitoring my coolant level for 4 weeks and the level stayed the same. They even told me that the sensor probably went out. After knowing all this and even checking out my car themselves they still wanted to change the whole tank. I went to the Jaguar dealership in SA and bought a $15 sensor and popped that sucker right in and my warning light went off.
Now I'm wondering if I even need to replace the induction elbow or simply replace the gaskets.

I also have a 2009 4.2 SC and had "false positive" messages about coolant being low. If the sensor doesn't fix your problem long term, it's the float. There's an easy way to fix the float if you put some work into it.
With the car cold, open the coolant tank, look in and you'll see the float and black cap at the top of the center shaft that the float is on. Reach in with long pliers to gently wiggle the black circular cap off, then get the float up and out.
Then, you'll need one of those dense foam circles that comes on the top of CDs and DVDs. Put that under the float and then carefully push them back down over the shaft. They float much more easily now so you'll need something to hold it down (like a long wire) while you replace the black cap back on the top of the center shaft.
Cap the coolant reservoir and you're done. This little disc will keep the float 'floating' well for years and the float will only ever go down if the coolant is actually gone.

Nice low mileage for a 2009. Look at your build date, the car could actually be almost 7 years old now. The earliest 2009's were built in November 2007 (my XF-SC was built in 12/07). Believe it or not, limited use can cause as many problems to crop up as excessive use. Seals dry out, parts corrode and lubrication evaporates, especially in a hot climate like Texas. I don't think the problems you are facing are all that unusual for a luxury, hi-performance car of that age. That's just my opinion, but I coud be wrong. ;-)
