XFR Gas Mileage Question - MPG City Driving
As mentioned in a recent post, I've just purchased a '12 XFR. Amazing car! Power, handling, aesthetics...just about the whole package.
Gas milage on the highway is about at the recommended level, but my city driving is coming in at under 10 MPG. Is this typical? I'm not in Sport mode and not mashing the accelerator either. When I took the car back to the dealer to have some accessories installed, I asked them to take a look and see if there might be an issue with the ECU or something else....They said it all looked OK.
Any advice?

the gas mileage on my SC has improved some since I hit the 1k mark. I do mash it on the short highway run to my office so I don't have a consistent value to offer, but overall mileage per gallon has improved since new.
City fuel economy is very variable. Idling wastes fuel and this factor is impossible to quantify. The newest stop/start systems just coming onto the European market are headed our way. This will make city fuel economy much more predictable and uniform. The stop in the stop and go wastes a significant amount of the fuel consumed.
Very much appreciate the suggestions above. Great points. I am also trying to assess if I'm an unusual outlier in the city driving MPG category....If possible, can folks communicate what their mileage is?
Thanks in advance...

I'd say for city driving, I am probaly between 12-13 mpg. Are you having your trip computer reset for each trip or you doing a cumulative average? Your car should have an A, a B and an Auto reset which restarts the trip calcs each time you start the car. Try the auto setting which resets every time you restart to see how you are doing for each run of the car. I was below 10 mpg early on.
I routinely get around 15 mpg in my 4.2 liter V8 around town. The XFR will be about ten percent less efficient.
Be aware that these engines are very tight from new. Fuel economy and throttle response improve markedly during the first 10,000 miles or so.

I'll second that. My MPG is steady at around 14mpg city. Got way better after a "break in" period (one that my dealer specifically told me didn't exist!). Smoother idling, better power now than when I first got it a year ago, for sure.

I'm at about 15-16mpg if it's mostly city. It's rare that I'm driving mostly city though. Mostly highway and some city gets me ~18mpg. I don't beat on the car but I do drive pretty quick and give it a good run now and then so I'm sure others can get a few ticks better.
My 09 FXSC gets 16-24...city-Hwy.....driving style is mixed depending on who is behind me ? I do tend to use cruise control around 70 mph when on the hwy., (shows a hair under 2000 rpm).

This is for a 2010 XFR: During "real" city driving (stop and go, lots of lights, heavy traffic), I get around 20L/100km, which is between 11 and 12 MPG. Luckily I drive mostly suburban, where I'm typically getting 13-15L/100km (15-18 MPG). On highways I will see between 10-12L/100km, or 19.5-23.5mpg. I've also noticed that economy declines sharpy in the winter, more so than the other cars I've driven.
I am at 19.8mpg to be exact, in my NA "12. That's with AC on and i have been doing a lot of spirited driving, as they call it.
I am really stunned how efficient the engine. My LS was getting less mpg and had 100hp less.

My 2012 XFR SC is averaging 12mpg around town, aircon, auto lights etc make about .5mpg difference.
U can squeeze more out of it - but it all comes down to how fast you push the pedal on the right down......
Great car though aye
