Default READ THIS- How to take out a radio

That video makes it plain enough that a first grader could take out a jag radio. This video needs to be a sticky. Thank you for the help.

To take the radio out you start by opening up the middle console. You'll see two screws at the front. Unscrew them and you can get the ashtray completely out. There is two butterfly screws under the end of the wood. Remove the sport mode switch and then you can get the wooden panel off. There are then about 6 screws that hold in the head unit. It will be able to come out then

Well I am (relatively) and I often think the same thing!
As for the radio, the original radio is in my opinion a poor performer, compared to other head units on the market now and for some years back also.
I replaced mine quite soon after getting the car with an Alpine unit. Blends in really well I think and has the same green illumination. In addition it connects and controls the Jag CD multi-changer in the boot which is an Alpine unit.
My belief is, if you're taking the original out then keep it out!

Ok, props on the video. Very very good. BUT it brings up some questions for me. Which X30? is this??

Where can I get an armrest like that? Mine has the hook closure, not a magnetic one as in the video. I would love to upgrade.

Can anyone let me know?

I think you should take a look at ebay , I had bought mine off ebay as well . Mine is different only cupholders but I find cupholders more useful and bear in mind those phones will not be supported by network as far as I know

I don't know if anybody else noticed this but the brilliant thing about the vid of the guy taking the radio out is that it was all done one-handed with the other hand holding the camera.

None. I got the job done and the video helped a lot. No undue criticism towards the poster. I would politely suggest pointing at the six screws for the face plate and turning off the camera until it's time to lift out of place.

In addition, and pardon me if I missed it, but it helps immensely if you use the key in the hole to move the shift lever down from Park during some of the operations.

That's what 7 minutes can do to you.

Try ringing your jag dealer and giving him the reg no............tell them how old etc and ask politely if they can help with the code. My dealer at brentwood was very helpful and gave me the code no probs when he found out it was a 96 car
hope you get it sorted

I would certainly like to upgrade the radio / tape player in my 96 to a modern CD player with an IPOD aux.

Anyone have pics of radios they have installed in place of the factory unit?

Cheers
Bernie
