Default Emission Evap system - part numbers & diagrams

Hello
I created 2 PDF files to try to provide more information of the Vapor Emission system.

The first PDF file shows diagrams from the JTIS CD that cover the Running Loss with On-board Refueling Vapour Recovery (ORVR) System and a close up view of the Evap Canister Purge Valve in engine compartment. I also provided photos and part numbers I found on other internet sites.

XJ8 vapor canister system parts 1.pdf

Second PDF file is an JTIS extract from Description and Operation subsection of the Evaporative Emissions index section. It is a writeup that explains how the system works and provides diagrams with component parts locations.

Thanks for posting this Jim. So the purge valve is in the engine compartment and not the wheel well? I am stii getting a minor evaporative leak albeit less frequently after dealing with the gas cap. Time for me to dig deeper and examine the Evap System.

Yes, thank you Jim. At least I can better understand the evap system and where everything is located at. Not sure how easy it will be to detect a small leak visually.

Hi
I would say that it looks like it would be the same for your 2003 XJ.
There are only 2 model years (1998 & 1999) that include these particular diagrams and the diagrams are the same ones. That means no changes between the 1999 thru 2003 XJ models for this evap system.

This is a life-saver. I have a problem with my purge valve (well, purge valve or CCV, both parts are so damn cheap it is less of a hassle to just replace them both one at a time).

I was freaking out because I had no idea where the purge valve was, and after looking at these diagrams I just went "oh..... so thats where it is.... I wondered what that funky looking valve was"

Maybe Im just looking to quickly, but I dont see where these are located, and you say that the parts are cheap, well I called around and Im not finding them, maybe you can direct me to where you made your purchase, cause just today I tried to fuel up and I got no where, so I started to try and figure it out, the dealer ship says it may be the purge vavle, I read it maybe the CCV, but either way, I'm not willing to fork over 450 for them to do what I can, with just a little direction...thank you in advance.

Hi
First you will have to remove the Driver Side and Center Bulkhead Covers in the Engine Compartment.

This is a Photo of our XJ8 showing the Bulkhead Covers:

Name: XJX308EngineBulkheadCoversPhoto.jpg
Views: 4923
Size: 41.3 KB

Here is a photo of our 2001 XJ8 purge valve I took that shows the purge valve location in our engine compartment:

Name: our2001XJ8purgevalveinEnginecompartment.jpg
Views: 10905
Size: 123.1 KB

Here is a closeup view of our purge valve:

Name: our2001XJ8purgevalve.jpg
Views: 6430
Size: 69.5 KB

This closeup photo shows the part# is LNG1515AA for our Purge Valve.
The JEPC (Jaguar Electronic Parts Catalog) lists the part# as LNC1515AA.

Gaudin Jaguar Parts.com has the new oem part LNG1515AA retail price $91.50 Discounted Price $68.63 plus shipping.
LNC1515AA retail price $97.00 Discounted price is $78.81 plus shipping.

I do not know why there are 2 different part numbers for this purge valve.

Since you have the same Jaguar as ours (2001 XJ8 ), you should order the LNG1515AA.

Ebay sells used purge valve for $38 plus $12 shipping - total $50. I would buy a new one because of the small difference in the price.

I created these 3 PDF files that cover the Purge Valve Removal & Install:

XJ (X308) purge valve R&I.pdf

XJ (X308) Battery Ground Cable R&I.pdf

XJ (X308) Engine Bulkheads R&I.pdf

if this purge valve is bad would it throw a P0453 code? I can't get this code to clear from my system and it keeps the check engine on.

I have an interesting situation, sorry to dig up an old thread. On my 98 xj8 I am having an issue with my LNC1515AA, it seems to be splitting apart and has a leak there. What I am curious to know is if I order a new one does it come with what seems to me to be the bracket holding the part in? Here is a picture of it. The part that you unbolt is what I am referring to as the bracket. I don't know if the clips are tired or broke, or just not clipped in all the way. With out taking it off I can't just clip it back in. The other question about the part is the seal, I don't know how good it is. So on the new part if it comes without the "bracket" does it come with a new seal? When I get home I am going to pull the part to see if trying to get it to clip will help. I called gaudinjaguarparts to see if they could answer me, but not answer... If you guys can help it would be great, thanks =)
