Default Foot Rest aka Dead Pedal install

I bought a new foot rest for my XJR.

I was going to go with a custom aluminum set of pedals with a foot rest, but I decided that I am okay with the stock pedals.

However, I NEED a foot rest.

I am 6' tall, and my foot does not rest on the factory foot rest molded into the carpet.

This is what I bought:

It's made by Lokar.

It will match the stock pedals and interior well IMHO.

It isn't very big, but it will allow me to rest my heel on the floor and this foot rest will support the ball of my foot. I did a test fit by taping it to the floor, and it was comfortable.

The angle is adjustable.

I want to install it on the rubber foot rest that is molded into the carpet, at or near the top of that factory foot rest.

What I need to know is this:

Is there anything I should worry about hitting when I drill the two holes for the mounting screws?

drilling isn't required, just 3M double sided fixing tape. If drilling don't go through the floorpan, and check behind the carpet for wiring looms. I installed an aluminium pedal set and for that I used polished stainless counter sunk screws 1 top, 1 bottom.

Thanks Sean!

I couldn't get my imgur account to work last night after I posted the first pic.

Here are two more pics of this foot rest:

I've got to do some drilling with this base.

It came with two nuts & bolts, but I might just try some self tapping screws.

You were right Sean.

I didn't think there would be enough surface area on the base of the foot rest to create a strong enough bond with 3M tape.

I was wrong!

I bought a big roll of 1/2" 3M tape to install a piece of exterior door belt line trim. That roll came with a pen of adhesive promoter.

3M VHB 5952 30'x1 2" Double Sided Acrylic Foam Mounting Tape 15ml 94 Primer | eBay

I cleaned everything and applied the primer, and that foot rest is SOLID!

No holes!

Thanks again my friend!
