Welcome to the forum Kelly,

I've moved your question from X308 to X350 forum. Members here with the same model will be able to help.

Open the header tank cap, unscrew the plastic screw on top of the header tank and fill the tank while watching for bubbles at the plastic screw. This has always worked for me.

To add to oldmots - car running, heater on max high... Might take a few runs to get the stubborn air pockets out..

On other models (XJ6/XJ12/XJ40/X300/X308/XK8/XK), I squeeze the top radiator hose (with the Expansion Tank cap removed) after refilling with coolant to help force out any air.

Haven't owned an X350 so can't say if it helps with this model........
