Yeah, you're in the right place.
Just read through existing posts and you can find answers to your question of what the differences are between the model years, as far as problems and preferences.
You can also go to various website other that the Forum that have reviews of each model year with descriptions of changes year-to-year.

For the remote start alone, the 2016 gets my vote.

However, I am in the process of purchasing a 2016 ... going to test drive tomorrow. I love the map view in the cluster and updated infotainment. I'm excited 😁

In my opinion most risky are 2010-2012 models. As these were first models and from 2012 the main bugs and issues started being updated.
This includes engines (especially diesels), some moving mechanism (for example updated sunroof construction to prevent rust).
From 2016 you get totally renewed infotainment, camera (you can get 360), LED lamps, driving assist as lane and distance control.
So if you have opportunity and extra budget, look at 2016+ model.
Because getting model before 2016, most videos and info you will look for - is if it possible to change slow working infotainment touchscreen, and how to change head lights to LED. LED headlights and chinese androind screen updates would cost around 4000 $

It does make sense about the aftermarket infotainment and led headlights. Those would be 2 things I would want to upgrade.
I do want an Android screen regardless. I have a few mods in mind that require certain aps.

I think 50k with 82,000 miles is steep, even for an R.
I did, however, just put an application for a 2016 earlier today and waiting for approval 🙌🏾

You may be able to arrange a ppi through a local Jaguar dealer at a cost of around $500. If that won't work there is a firm called Lemonsquad that is national in nature. I used them when I bought my 2018 XJR 575 as the nearest Jaguar dealer was not close to the seller. They charged about $250 and did a relatively thorough job missing some windshield damage which the dealer made good on when I caught it. Incidentally I bought the car in January of 2022; and I am very pleased with it.

I'm about to call them soon as I get off work
