Default XJ Front Grille Badge removal and custom paint write up

Good day to all, Here is a quick write up on a 2011 XJ grille emblem removal and paint.

So I had been wanting to do something different with my emblem color and decided to go green. I saw another forum member posting his paint job and decided to give it a try.

After some research I got enough information to try to remove the badge myself. Some say it was double sided taped on, others said it was screwed on from behind. Well I know for sure in the 2011 model it is double sided taped on.

how to remove emblem,
1- There are three small clips at the 12 ,5 and 7 of the outer ring that says jaguar on it. I have attached a photo with red arrows do you can see what I am referring to. Get a small screw driver and pop off slowly in those areas.

2- Get a heat gun or hair dryer and heat up the inner emblem and take a screw driver and butter knife and slowly lift and pull of the black emblem.

How to put it back on:

in my case the sticky tape stayed on the grille surrounding and I left it in place so I could reuse this emblem after paint. After I painted and it was time to place the emblem back on I just heated up with heat gun or hair dryer for a few seconds to get it tacky again and push the emblem back in place....then get the outer chrome ring and pop it back into place .

That simple.

nice job, that looks pretty good. I like the JAGUAR on your lower front valance too, that looks pretty slick.

Nice! Now you need to have matching green wheel center caps.

Nice job and informative write up.
I damaged my front grill a few years ago so found a replacement grill complete with the red badge already on it, my car is red so very pleased with the result.

Holes are for the OEM badge alignment pins.

Yeah the aftermarket emblem I used for my color change had pins in the wrong place for our model. Pins are not really needed - unless you want to put the emblem on blindfolded.

After you've installed the bezel, if the alignment pins on the emblem are in the wrong place, cut them off flush (nail clippers, razor knife, etc.) and put some masking tape on the sides of the emblem and the bezel. Dry fit the emblem into the bezel and align it so it looks straight (horizontally and vertically) and then mark the tape and bezel with a marker pen. Remove the protective tape from the back of the emblem to expose the sticky surface, insert the wires through the alignment holes, align the markings on the tape and bezel, press the emblem firmly into the bezel, remove the masking tape and you're you're done. Then wire it up. EZPZ, but you get one shot, so make it a good one!
