2011 XJL 351 Car sway in the rear after replacing sway bar links
Visited a shop after noticing my car swaying in the rear after replacing my sway bar links. I thought that was the issue but the shop says I need new upper control arms on the rear. I asked him why and he said my ball joints have wear. Why not just replace my ball joints? Will that fix my issue? Any suggestions?
How many Kms or miles has your Jag done?
In my experience when items have come up for servicing/replacement it has never been just a single item regarding suspension linkages, control arm bushes etc. Replacing one item usually reveals the next item in the chain that needs to be replaced, you may want to check your air compressor and shocks too.

No issues with air compressor or airbags and etc. just the swaying
If the ball joint is really bad, it needs to be replaced. However if it is just the rubber boot that is broken, you can replace the rubber boot only and leave the ball joint alone. This costs almost nothing for parts.
See this thread read by Bigg Will where he changes the boot (as well as a lot of other things) on his XF.https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...mi-xfr-213633/
If the ball joint needs replacement, I understand it is a pain to press out if you don’t replace the whole arm. The other bushings on the arm are presumably easier to press out. When I do it, I plan to reboot my ball joints and swap out my bushings for Powerflex poly bushings. It won’t be for 6 months or so, so I’ll try to remember to post my results when I get it done.
All the best.
