Default 2014 xj 3.0 dpf full

Hi Guys, new to this forum.

I have a 2012 XJ 3.0 Premium Luxury, beautiful car, but as many know you get the odd gremlin throwing up messages on dash, nothing a quick on off doesn't rectify. But recently I had the dreaded RED DPF FULL. I had this initially last May 2018, about 2 months after I bought the car. Got in touch with an amazing guy from a company called Decoke, Luke from Wakefield, who is a professional DPF cleaner. He cleaned it last year PERFECT!. Then 4 weeks ago the same RED DPF FULL. Luke came out did the clean, and today back came the RED sign. When ever the red warning appeared, I did not get the RP, which is good. So got the car home, and came onto this forum, where a couple of guys with the XF said to try and take the car out for a few mile at around 2000rpm to kick in the Regen. So I did, using the paddle shift to keep it restricted to 5th gear. Coming back into the city, suddenly major white and cream smoke out the back. I thought I buggered the car. Switched it off. Looked underneath and the DPF was glowing RED. Called Luke, he said that the smoke means that it has burnt off all the crap in the DPF, and to let the DPF cool for at least 20 minutes, which I did and now all seems well. Before I took the car out to burn off, I called Luke who suggested that the car will need a DPF Removal and Clean, as the chemical clean is not adequate, this clean takes nearly a day a half. Just thought I would share this with you guys, as no doubt many have had this problem.

Do you do a lot of short journeys ? DPFs soon clog up if short journeys are the majority because the burn-off cycle cannot complete to clear out the carbon. It is quite possible you have also suffered fuel dilution of your engine oil, a consequence of this failure, so if I were you, I'd change the oil and filter asap.
