Default All electric XJ coming

Any thoughts on the all electric XJ coming in the next year or two? Next generation Jaguar XJ sedan will be a five-door electric hatchback to compete with Tesla Model S

If there is already a thread on this, please point it out to me. Thank you.

I started the first one last year:

Then I think there have been two more since:

Funnily enough it isn't the "electric" bit that caught my eye, it is the "5-door" bit. I have to say that I would consider a 5-door X351 to be a brilliant idea.

Making their flagship electric is a dumb idea. They would be better off offering perhaps a hybrid XJ or maybe XF option at first, then if they get any acceptance a full electric offering (still as an option). What might be good is a super high performance f-type electric. Ferrari has one. It would still be a niche market but they could test the waters with it.

Even the article bemoans the idea of replacing one of the worlds great iconic sedans with an EV. it makes the rather obvious point that the market for EVs is incredibly small and Jag has usually gotten a small section of its markets anyhow. Maybe they should wait and see if anyone actually buys the iPace before ruining a 50year old icon coz once you do this, there is no going back.
