Default Alternator replacement manual

Hello all,
New to the forum and new to the xj barge life.
loved all 3 days of it befor my alternator shorted out and killed it self and the battery.

I am looking for advice on how to chnage the alternator, i found people refering to a manual woth lots of photos,

On thing I can find is a 8000 page plus manual that doesn't cover the alternator,

2010 xj 3l diesel

Any help is appreciated!

I have it jacked up and removed the turbo feed pipe but apart from that I can't see much 😅

Well got it done,

open boot and lock latch,
Disconnect the battery

Way I did it was from the top take the left hand air pipe off to get at the tensioner,

Un tesnsion the belt and pop it off thr alternator. ( I needed a friend as its tricking with 2 hands)

jack it up,

Remove the skid plan,
remove the black boost pipe under the alternator
remove the metal pipe just above.

Remove the black plug on the back and live wire
Loosen the engine mount lower bolts ( don't take the nuts off)

Take the 3 mounting bolts off, 2 on the bottom 1 at the top right under the belt tensioner

Grab some wood and jack the engine up

Fight with it and smash the alternator off your fingers and play trying to fit a circle though a rectangular hole.

Fit in reverse

No photos sadly due to no space on the old phone
