Aftermarket Battery
I keep getting code Battery is Low please start engine. I’ve had the battery tested and it tests fine. The dealer says it’s because I had an aftermarket battery installed and the car doesn’t program aftermarket batteries. Does anyone know anything about this?
The battery isn't the problem, it's that they/you didn't run the "Replace battery" function in SDD when you installed the battery. Newer vehicles with lots of telematics and circuitry put significant load on the batteries so they implement a battery management system that creates charge schedules for the battery based on its condition in order to extend the life of the battery.
This can probably fixed with a bench recharge and running the Replace Battery command in SDD.

What exactly is a bench recharge? Dealer service has it and said they would try to reprogram it but it may or may take. If it doesn’t I will just have to live with the message alert being on.

Is this something the dealer service will do prior to trying to reprogram it? Thank you for your help.
Can you post what battery you installed? Brand and model? Your car should use an H8 AGM battery.
I have never run the SDD battery reset. The car will automatically run the thru the BMS settings regardless if you have reset the battery or not.
I would read the DC voltage after the has sat all night and post that number back in this thread.
Also how old is the battery?

The battery is less than 2 yo. Still under warranty. Car is with dealer service so I can’t look at the brand and model. When I speak with them I can ask them to take a pic of it.

In addition to answering Clubairth1's questions, tell us if you drive the car enough to charge the battery. It's cold where you live and worse this year. Are you using seat heaters, defroster, or steering wheel heater on start up more than you have in the previous 2 year life of this battery? What changed in your driving habits from the time you installed the battery two years ago? Do you leave the car sit unused for long periods? Don't forget, these cars are never off and maybe you need a battery maintainer. Also, I have never had to run a battery reset.
Nothing has changed with driving habits since installing the new battery. Car is kept in a heated garage. If anything is driven less in extreme cold but typically driven long enough at a time the battery should recharge.
I rarely use seat heaters, occasionally use steering wheel heater. Defrost and climate is kept on automatic at 66°f to stay comfortable The car is used regularly but not excessively.
Does not sit unused for long periods.
