Group 49 AGM Battery

Group 49 AGM Battery
My Battery was 7.5 years old and working OK. When not driving it, I keep it connected to a Battery Maintainer.
However, being Pro-Active, I just bought a new Sears Die-Hard Group 49 AGM Battery and installed it.
For those in the U.S. it's currently on sale for $161.99.
I think this is quite reasonable for a Large AGM Battery.

Paul,
I've noticed US members never buy an OE battery from Jaguar when it comes to replacement. Are they outrageously expensive through the US Dealer network?
Comparison on our battery replacement costs:
PAUL (US) - Sears Die-Hard Group 49 AGM Battery: $161.99 (106.15 UKP)
GRAHAM (UK) - Jaguar OE Varta Battery: $157.88 (103.45 UKP)

The JPAM parts website has the list price at $253, so an OEM battery is quite a bit steeper here. On top of that, unfortunately it is all too common for some Jag dealers here to sell over list price.
Note that Paul's post is for an AGM deep cycle battery. The Sears price is a phenonmenal deal for an AGM. If you only use the car occasionally, or it is in storage for the winter the AGM should last much longer than a conventional wet cell battery.
A conventional aftermarket battery can be had here on sale for just a bit over $100.

As added information, I had to replace the factory battery in my wife's 2006 XK8 last September. The car was built in May 2005 so the battery was pushing 7.5 years old when it was replaced. I went with the familiar Bosch battery at Pep Boys using a $20 coupon printed from their website. Total cost was about $95....
Our 2005 S-Type (also built in May 2005) continues to run its factory battery which is now nearly 8 years old. I'm curious to see how long it will last. I expect to replace it with that same Bosch battery when the factory battery finally gives up the ghost....

A local Chain, Farm & Fleet, has a high quality Standard (Non AGM) Battery on sale for $76.99.
This price is for all sizes listed, not just 24 (click on the Down Arrow).
Blain's Farm & Fleet 7 - Year Platinum Automotive Battery (Group Size: 24) at Blain's Farm & Fleet
The Battery that I am replacing is a Farm & Fleet that is 7.5 yr old and still was working OK (see post #1).
As a aside, The Sears Die-Hard and Farm & Fleet (and many other brands) are made by Johnson Controls, a local Milwaukee Company.

I've never had a bad Johnson Controls-built battery, regardless of the brand name it happened to carry. All of my Johnson Controls-built batteries have lasted at least 6 years, and a couple of them lasted more than 8 years. Can't complain about that track record when those batteries have typically cost me from $45 to $70 depending upon the vehicle and whatever coupon I could find....
