Anything is possible with enough money, but does that expenditure make sense? Not with a 2012 model, in my opinion. I'd put that money towards a CPO 2016 or newer XJ that came from the factory with the Jaguar Incontrol touchscreen that is dealer-upgradeable to Apple CarPlay. A 2016 also has the 8-speed transmission, Meridian Surround Sound, soft-close doors and more. See:

P.S. It's been done on the 2007-2015 XK/XKR, but it wasn't cheap or easy. See:

Yes it can be done in a 2012 XJ. But you will lose the factory navigation.

Hey Stuart,

I have a 2016 XJL and they told me that they can't do the upgrade. I went through a lot of back and forth with my dealership about this. The final verdict (according to them) was that they thought it was upgradable for models that didn't have buttons on the sides of the navigation screen, but that wasn't the case. They tried to updating it and told me there is nothing available. I take everything they tell me with a grain of salt, but at this point I gave up on trying to get the update.

Yes I have a 10.25" Android Tablet in place of the factory 8.5" stuff in my 2014 XJR. Full factory functions plus any and all Android functions.
You get Android Auto and Carplay plus whatever app you can install on an Android device.

Take a look at this long thread. I like the upgrade a lot and it did install without too much trouble but it's up to you if you can DIY it.
I posted some pictures of everything.
Otherwise I would not attempt it.

Update to 10.25" Front Screen

Here is the ad. Android 9.0. 4GB RAM, 64GB ROM so plenty big and it does run fast. Clunky chinese interface but once thru that I am using a CarPro Launcher.

10.25" screen

The factory Smartphone Pack for InControl Touch Pro is only available with the 10.2" widescreen, the 2016-2017 have the smaller 8" screen.
But it's possible to retrofit the factory widescreen. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...3/#post2208261

There are kits that add Apple CarPlay & Android Auto to the factory screen too. For example https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...arplay-235007/
