anybody seen FARALLON Black Metallic in person??
The Jag I am considering is that color but have never seen the color in person. Unfortunately the car is over a thousand miles from me so that makes it a bity difficult to see w/o jumping on a plane of course.
I tend not to be a fan of colors that are to metallic looking. Tend to prefer more of the deep/rich gloss look. I've historically found that metallic black looks too "gray" and looks dirty even when clean.
I've also heard that Farallon has a blue hue to it. Is that accurate ??
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks

I have never seen that color on a Jaguar, but I have seen a Rover with that same name color. Not sure if it is the same exact paint though. I did not get the "gray" vibe from it like you describe sometimes happens when the metallic is too much. I thought it was a classy color. Better than pure black for sure, had more depth to it. If it is the same color on the Rovers then you could likely find one of those nearby to take a closer look at. Rover owners seem to go for black colors a lot.
Since I am in FL a black car has never been at the top of my preferences, although I do appreciate the look. In the sun those become a giant charcoal briquette by mid-day.

Parnelli,
Sorry if I was vague in saying “It all depends.” I agree that black can be a boring color if it’s not maintained properly, covered with dust and swirls. But a properly maintained black finish can be like no other color in showing the curves and sculpted lines in a handsome car such as the XJ.
I’ve seen Farallon Black Metallic paint on a Range Rover. It was absolutely beautiful. I’m sure the owner puts extra effort into maintaining the paint.

I had a Disco Sport loaner in Farallon.
It's a very deep black with a ton of metal flake in it. In direct sunlight you will see purple, blue, silver, green and pink reflections...possibly more. In dull conditions, it just looks black.
If you've seen a Stratus Grey car, it behaves in a similar way.

Anybody know if the Farallon is also Xirallic paint like the Stratus Grey color?
I have seen Farallon in person on a Jag. It was driving towards me and at first glace it looks like a smooth but not a pure black. I looked at the color a little longer and I noticed something was "different" about this black. It was black but I noticed a navy blue coming out of it from a distance. As the car got closer, the navy blue became more visible. Then as the car drove past me I was able to tell that the car was black with a blue tint underneath the black. It's Blue/Black if that makes any sense. I saw this car on a cloudy day. I can only imagine how good it looks in the sun.
