Default anyone retrofit picnic trays in 2012 XJL?

One of my must have's are picnic (business) trays on the backs of the front seats. All 2011 XJL's have the trays but fewer 2012's have them. I would like to get the upgraded nav/voice control unit that is first available in the 2012's but finding a 2012 with trays is difficult. Has anyone retrofit trays into a 2012? any idea on the cost of the parts? Thank you.

The trays weren't standard in 2012? I was not aware of that!

Looks like you would need to replace the front seat back panel cover. The part includes the tray table. Runs about $1100/seat. Also looks like there was a mid-model change because VINs < 40415 use a different part # than later VINs

A XJL without seat back business tables is like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich without peanut butter. Why not buy a 2011 XJL with standard tables and install a dash-top Garmin GPS which outperforms any Jaguar in-dash navigation unit a hundred-fold? You will also save substantially on the purchase price, plus taxes/licensing fees, and interest costs since depreciation is very steep in the early years.

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions. On Saturday, my problems were solved. After looking for months, we stumbled upon a 2012 XJL supercharged black with London tan seats and jet headliner, with massage front seats and business trays in the rear! Yahoo, this car checked every box on my wish list, except for an 'affordable' price, but it was close enough. So, in two months, my wife and I have gone from having 4 vehicles (including a 2008 XJ8L and 2009 XF we just traded) to the XJL and a 2004 Escalade EXT. Good news, my wife is really enjoying the XJL, but now I'm driving the EXT. By the way, our original plan was to trade the XF on a pre-owned XK for her. After we heal financially from this purchase, I may need to get that XK so I can drive the XJL. Thanks again.

Glad to hear you got the car of your dreams, including picnic/business tables.
