Auxiliary Battery
Hey guys - quick question. On the 2013 Jaguar XJL, I had the auxiliary battery replaced recently and am being told by the mechanic that it seems to be reporting or charging at 10 volts vs 12v. Is this normal on a brand new battery? If not, what could be causing this issue?
This is why i just told someone in another thread to unhook the battery. Unless you just love the eco system. You have a bad new battery because many times when i get these there is a fualt in the system ie... Gate way module(GWM) needs software update, 1 if the 2 battary contacters(fuses) are bad in the module under the aux battery(replacement of the whole unit) and then depending on year and faults replacement of the dual battery charge module. Fancy new fangled stuff throws so many uneducated mechanics on the systems for loops.....
Is there any replacement for the Exide Starter Battery Start-Stop Auxiliary EK151 available in the USA? I know you can order them from Europe but with shipping it is expensive.

Honestly I don't know but my mechanic just replaced it with a similar battery used for like tractors or ATVs or whatever, he found one that was swappable and it worked fine. Never had issues after that.
I bought an Excide replacement battery that was advertised on Ebay. It is the EK151 shipped from Latvia.. Shipping was not expensive and the battery arrived in a few days. Here's the Ebay link.https://www.ebay.com/itm/15287241381...3ABFBMgpGKlfpf

Kbschicago, that battery is made just for JLR and that little guy will cost you a fortune. If you like the start/stop feature, then get the battery replaced. Don’t let everyone else tell you what you should or shouldn’t have in your car.
Exactly. I totally agree.
Nightshadow, further details If you don't want the Stop/Start feature: make sure you disconnect the ground cable going from the small battery to the chassis/body not the red positive cable on the battery. If you want to be able to reconnect it quickly for warranty or visits to the dealer, you can do what I did and put a battery switch on the black cable where it grounds to the body.
I would happily disconnect the Aux Battery from my 2013 XJ Portfolio. Replacements seem impossibly expensive unless someone has come up with a cheap substitute?
How do I get rid of the dashboard warning light for that battery and the Aux start system if I do disconnect it?
Thanks
Eric
