AWD for America?

I have to say that it is about damn time. They have been surpassed in sales for this one reason for too long. How many merc's do you see the 4matic badge? How many Xi bimmers do you see? Audi Quattro? Even the Japanese got in a while ago. I really hope this helps Jaguar sell a lot more cars. Space, pace, grace and now a real car with real AWD!

I'm severely disappointed that it's only on the 3.0 ride, not the 5.0 or the SS or SC. I'd trade in my 11 SC for a AWD SC XJL if that actually comes along. Don't know if the power on the SC/SS is too much for the Jaguar AWD to handle or why don't they offer it on the premium editions. I've seen quite a few XJ around the Mass area and I'd bet most of those owners would love to have AWD for 12 months of driving pleasure.

How Jaguar Fast-Tracked AWD for Its Cars? And Why It Can’t Do More

IMHO an AWD Jaguar is really needed to fend off the SUV onslaught. Also the severe winters in northern US and Canada can put off prospective purchasers of cars like Jaguars. Of course Tata Motors can sell Land Rovers, but that doesnt help their poor Jaguar dealers who see potential customers driving past the showroom door.
Jaguar dealers will at last be able to look the customer in the eye and say, Yes Sir, this car is as capable on winter tarmac as a 4WD SUV. Lets face it, most of these SUV tanks never go off tarmac anyway.
I just hope the extra gubbins is fault-free, because the X-type AWD version suffered early on from transfer box failures.
