Default Black versus parchment headliner

Dear all,

I am deciding between two configurations of a XJ SC 2011. Both with ultimate black exterior and london tan seats. However, one has a black headliner and oak veneer whereas the other one has parchment headliner and oak veneer as well.
My question: Do you guys think that the black headliner makes the interior too dark????

Thanks for any opinions

Black, 100%. You need that contrast with london tan seats. It won't be too dark. I did the opposite...have black seats and went parchment headliner.

I have the parchment headliner on my Ultimate Black/London Tan--there is still plenty of contrast with the black dash, upper doors, and carpet. I like the way it looks and it does make the interior lighter. I also have the burled walnut trim and steering wheel.

Typical forum responses--now you have conflicting opinions to deal with!

ALL black interior. i know this is now a little dated of a post, but someone may be out here reading...I looked all over the country to get the black headliner. It is my favorite part of the entire car. Had reservations, but could not be happier.

I like the black headliner better. Gives a more sumptuous feel IMHO.

Although I have the parchment headliner in my XJ and like it, I went with the black headliner in the XKR we just got. Different look, but I wanted a monochromatic theme in the XKR because it is sportier--also have charcoal seats with red stitching and piano black trim. It's really sharp, but a little dark inside.

Interested in hearing opinions on replacing a factory headliner with alcantara? Mine is anthracite with charcoal interior...

Black headliner is AWESOME. I had the same fear. My entire interior is black but it is not too dark. It is very clean and very elegant. I couldn't be happier. As I mentioned, the black headliner is my favorite thing about the car.
