Can the version of USB be upgrades in a 2010 XJ?

Is there any way of speeding up usb through upgrading the version?

No. It is hardware limitation. The USB port in the XJ are USB1.1 and that means steady 11Mb/sek transfer speed. The upgrade size are ~20GB, so it will take time, no matter what.
However: There are faster method by removing the IAMT 2.0 unit from dash, open it and remove the internal HDD for direct copy by connecting it to the IDE capable PC. It will need some 3rd party software and accesscode. (more data in Volvo forums)
