Hello all! I'm a shop manager at a Euro shop in CT. We have a 2011 XJ Supercharged that a customer brought in. It appears as though it was in a front end collision and the right front ride level sensor is broken and needs replacement. The connector is broken and my techs and I are stumped on the pin out since some genius at a previous shop decided to use all red wires and presumably wired it wrong. All the diagrams I can find say that there are only supposed to be 3 wires in the connector. Pin 1 is ground, Pin 4 is signal, and Pin 5 is 5V reference. We cannot figure out why there are 6 wires going to the sensor. Does anyone know what pins 2,3, and 6 do? We want to get this wired right but can't proceed without a further understanding of wire colors and pins. Any help is appreciated, thanks! -LukeShopManager

 

Luke, Wire for Pin 2 is a green-brown wire that is the reference voltage ground. Pin 3 is a yellow-green wire that is the reference voltage source. Pin 6 is a brown wire is the output of the sensor to tell the computer how high the car is sitting. This would be for 1 of the height sensors. Wires 1, 4, and 5 are for the other height sensor in that block (there are 2 sensors in the one block/module). Just to make sure you have the right wiring, wire 1 is a brown-blue wire that is the reference ground. Wire 4 is a white-green wire that is the sensor output. Wire 5 is a yellow-green wire that is your reference voltage.

Thank you for the reply. That's incredibly informative. Fingers crossed that the colors you listed are indeed the ones on the harness. We'll be putting the car on the lift again soon to verify. I really appreciate the help!

 

If you can give some more info i can probably get correct for vehicle. Some wiring can be different depending on air suspension or CVD suspension.
