Default Continental Extreme DWS

Finally replaced the OEM Dunlops.

Huge difference in handling now. Also much much quieter. I had no idea how loud the Dunlops were until they were gone. About $900 at Tire Rack. Wish I had done it sooner.

In addition to improved noise comfort the Continentals also provide increased ride comfort, superior hydroplaning resistance, wet traction, snow and ice traction, less unsprung weight, longer life, 186 mph speed capability, and have a 50M mile warranty and lifetime road hazard replacement. You can't ask for much more.

Question What is real world mileage on an XJ for the DWS?

I'd be curious to know what real world mileage people are getting out of the DWS on their X300/X308 XJs?

The warrantee is 50k miles, but what is reality?

I am considering the DWS (and Pirelli P7 Cinturato) and since I put about 20-25k miles on a car a year, I don't want a tire that will need replacing in just 25-30k miles.

Reviews I've read on line about the DWS tires range from "7,000 miles and they are toast" to "70,000 miles on them and they look to have at least another 10,000 miles on them". Go figure.
I only have 5,639 miles on my DWS, with no signs of unusual wear, in fact they still look new.
I think both the tires you are considering are excellent. Good luck!

Thanks, yes that is the conundrum... and why I'm hopeful I can get some good feedback specific to Jaguar owners and their experience with the DWS as it certainly can vary based on driver & car.

I have them on my car as well and love them. Bought them from my dealership (they matched the Tire Rack price) in Feb of this year and haven't had any issues with the tires. They are smooth, ride beautifully, and don't show any wear, but then again, I don't put on too many miles on my cars.
I had the Pirelli P Zero Nero Stock OEM tires and they were absolutely crap. They were loud, average handling, and were pathetic in the cold temps (and I live in NC as well, so nothing like the Northern cold).

Pirelli P Zero Nero tires are not warrantied against compound cracking at ambient temperatures below 45 degrees F. (7 degrees C.).

The rubber compound used in these Summer tires becomes hard and looses its ability to grip the road at cool temperatures well above freezing, and they should really only be used in the summer.

It always amazes me automobile manufactures don't warn their customers of the inherent dangers implicit with using their summer OEM tire equipped cars in cool or cold weather. Totally irresponsible in my view!

The Pirelli P Zero Nero's which I had were All-Season and not Summer, but they were just crap on matter what season, but esp. bad when the temp fell close to freezing and below.

The major factors in achieving "as advertised" potential tire mileage is maintaining proper air pressure, alignment, and wheel balance. As summer turns to fall, you definitely need to increase air pressure. As fall turns to winter, you again need to increase air pressure. Even during a given season you need to increase air pressure to compensate for the leakage through the walls of your tires which is inevitable, even on perfectly mounted tires.

If you have your tire pressure checked after driving on them for a while, have them pressurized a 5 to 10 percent above the recommended cold pressure values.

If you encounter pot holes sufficient to destroy tires and the wheels on which they are mounted, chances are that your car's suspension alignment, and the wheel assemblies balance on it may also be out of recommended specifications.

This is a direct result of your local and state politicians, so until you get rid of them, you have only yourself to blame for poor tire life.
