Default Crank but won’t start, exact location of inertia switch 2012 xj lhs drive.

Hi,
People here are very helpful and more knowledgeable that the dealership. I am constantly experiencing this.

1) the car boot was opened without the battery wire being connected, with a jump from front. I didn’t realize it can stop the car from cranking and damage the modules.

I request your knowledge on it as i have cleared the codes, connected and disconnected the battery again but not starting.
Is it necessary to change the KVM and reprogram the keys as guided.
Location of inertia switch ? If LHS drive
Thanks

Are you sure it has an inertia switch? I have worked a lot on many Jaguars and don't remember any of them having one?
I know many Fords did/do.

clubairth, the X351's have a round about inertia switch. In short, there is a relay that powers the module that controls the fuel pump speed. This relay is powered by the ECM which will power the relay if 2 conditions are met: 1) ignition is on, and 2) the SRS system has not been activated. So, in an accident that deploys the airbags, this will cause the relay to loose power and open the relay, resulting in the engine turning off automatically. So, inertia switch, kinda.

Thanks much!
Any idea how to reset it if it's been tripped?

Reset the SRS system and it resets the relay.

Thanks again you are a wealth of information!
I assume this will require SDD as always?

clubairth1, of course. Granted, if the SRS went off, you are going to need the computer to put in the new airbags too as I recall. So, kinda a double whammy on this one.
