Does the installation of the Leaper improve the sight line?
We are considering adding the Leaper emblem to the hood of the 2015 XJL.
Will this installation of the Leaper improve the sight line?
Look forward to your thoughts from those of you that have this.

When we picked up our 2013 XJ, we had a very fleeting thought of adding a "Leaper" to the "Growler". Obviously, it's a matter of personal taste, but after looking at several that the dealer had on the lot and driving one with it on the hood, we changed our minds because we believed it detracts from the design lines of the vehicle.
However, Shakespeare wrote, "Beauty is bought by judgement of the eye". So, go for it if you like it. With or without, I'm sure you'll enjoy the new ride.

Not certain what you mean by "sight line" but, from the driver seat I can not even see the leaper on the sloping hood even as the seat raised where my head pretty much touches to roof lining.
We were more interested in how the car looked from the outside rather than seeing the Leaper from the inside. As a matter of fact, I couldn't remember if we could even see it from the driver's seat, or not!
Sorry, I'm not more help.

I too briefly considered adding the "Leaper" hood ornament, simply because it was such a mainstay styling element of so many distinguished Jaguars of the past. However, after due consideration, I concluded it would not be appropriate on, nor enhance the thoroughly modern XJL.
My question was not that clear and after driving the cars of the 60's where one could see the end of the hood relative to an expensive obstacle as opposed to the new styles disappearing into nothingness . . . would the installation of The Leaper let me see the length of the hood?
The leaper on my XJL was installed by the dealer as an option on the new car. I was hesitant initially, liking everything else about the car but, had second thoughts about the leaper. In the two years of my ownership I got quite used to it and now I actually like it. Most people seem to like it as they think it is a factory install, as they are used to seeing leapers on Jaguars.
If it were up to me, I would not install it mostly because I am always worried when I leave the car on a parking lot that someone might rip it off the hood, causing damage.

I agree.
The "leaper" looked quite appropriate on the '01 XJ-8 that my wife and I had, as our first Jag. We passed on adding it to our XF, though, and briefly considered it for our new XJ-L, but then felt it didn't fit the sleeker lines of the new body.
Not seen a leaper on an XJ or an XF in the UK, I guess they would contravene our vehicle safety rules. I seem to think that anything added to the front of the bonnet (hood) must be spring loaded, eg the Mercedes badge.

Here's another thread about putting a leaper on the XJ which has pics.

On an X308,yes. To each their own but I think a leaper on the XJ8s look Jaguar. personal choice on models after them though.
