Default Logo projection

Explain how this works...

Are they activated by the door being opened or are they on when the headlights are on?

They're wired to the puddle light on the door bottom and turn on and off automatically when you open and close the door. You need one for each door. The kit comes with a small circular hole saw to drill into the door bottom next to the puddle light so you can splice the new wires onto the existing ones. If you cover the puddle light lens with black electrical tape only the new logo light with show. The original puddle light doesn't get removed.

Actually there is no need to drill anything. the model you specify is also being sold but I was not going to drill anything...
2pcs LED Car Door Laser Projector Logo Shadow Light Perfit for Jaguar XJ XKR | eBay

This is a drop in replacement to your puddle light and it takes about 2 min to install them. At this price I can replace it every year if i have to ....

Default Puddle Light Comparison - To Drill or Not To Drill

There's an extensive, 8-page discussion of leaper/growler logo puddle lights on the XK/XKR (X150) Forum, including a comparison of the drill-in and non-drill units, with photos. The conclusion is that the drill-in units produce a better image. See thread ##147 and 148: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-114619/page8/

Your car, your $$$, your choice.

Thanks Stuart. I saw it, I am happy with the plug in image by itself. Drilling holes make me nervous . ... However it makes sense.
Also the door light when you have the no drill replacement is slightly slanted so drill replacement would be much more clear just from an angle perspective for sure.

Ram,

Since the no-drill housing is plastic, perhaps you can file down the high edge slightly to square it up and eliminate the slant, thereby improving the image.

The units you show look like they fit into the door and not actually under the mirror which has a weird shaped lens. Is that the case or are those just generic pics they have on their page? Does this only work on the 2013. I have 2011 and according to their webpage it won't work for my car.

Nevermind. I understand where they go. They are not replacing the lights in the mirrors but the one in the door. I have always understood the puddle lamp to be the lights under the mirrors which shine when you unlock the car so you can see the puddles hence puddle lamps. My understanding is that is where Land Rover Evoques has their image shine from.

That's correct. Land Rovers have the puddle lamps setup that way. The puddles are super hard for me to remove, I haven't even replaced them with white LEDs yet.

These actually go in your door which is kind of cool since I seldom use the remote to unlock.
