Hey guys, I am new to Jaguars coming from owning a BMW 335xi Manual transmission.
Anyways, I was looking at a 2017 Jaguar XJ R Sport.
Absolutely beautiful I've attached all the features it comes with. I'm wondering what other features these cars come with. Is my model loaded? What questions should I ask the dealer?its going for 36k. has 42k miles.
I was also wondering what common issues will I run into.
Thanks for all the help and info! I'm a very mechanically inclined I just can't find too much about these cars.
Welcome to the forum................this is the 1997-2003 X308 "modern" section, try posting in the later XJ (351) "current" models section for a better response.
Welcome to the Jaguar Forums! It's great to have you with us.
I have moved your post from the forum for the X308 to the forum for the X351, which is the Jaguar factory project code for the 2009 and later XJ sedans/saloons. Here you will find knowledgeable owners of similar cars.
While the R Sport is still a very nice vehicle by all metrics, adaptive cruise, massaging seats, and quilted seats ('16+) were unavailable options. There are a few other differences that I can't remember. Someone's free to correct me here, but from what I gathered when my wife and I were searching for her '16 XJL Portfolio, the R-Sport is the base model of the trim levels. We never even saw one with a V8...

FWIW I have a 2017 XJ R-Sport and it has all of the options mentioned (minus the quilted seats). It was all included with an option package (Comfort Package) but may well be standard on the Portfolio. The package includes 14 way seats + 5 mode massaging seats, 4 zone A/C and rear sunshade (I think I have it all covered there ). Mine also has the adaptive cruise, heated front windshield etc. The only missing option that i am aware of (that I really wish it had) is the interior illumination package for the heating vents and door sills. It was an available option though so not sure why the original owner added all of the other items except for that one. I did add the illuminated door sills for the front doors (for a crazy price) and not sure that was money well spent lol. Mine has the 6 cylinder but can't recall if it was available with the V8 engine.
Cheers
Kevin
Well if you want to go big the top of the line XJ is the XJR?
But are you a hot rodder? It has 550HP which is more than you need but oh so satisfying.
I have a modified XJR with around 620HP at the crank.
Any XJ is still quite a machine in my eyes.
But I think Jaguar kind of shot themselves in the foot with how they started naming things. The XJ R-Sport is the very bottom of the line XJ but they confusingly named it almost exactly the same as the XJR which is about the top of the line except for maybe the portfolio versions.

I agree, but calling any Jaguar "basic" is a little inaccurate, in my opinion.

You're forgetting that in the US, we have a greatly truncated range. In the UK and other markets, there are many levels of trim below the R-Sport.
