Has anyone ever tried to upgrade the reverse cam?
I am sure we all have the same gripes about the backup camera, especially when any amount of light is hitting the screen. It is just flat out a pretty terrible reverse cam. The screen in the dash is HD (if I am not mistaken), and I assume the camera is 480i/p, so stretching it to an HD resolution probably isnt helping. I dont know if we can replace the camera with a higher resolution one, or if the connection from the camera to the screen wont support a higher resolution anyway.
The cameras themselves are pretty reasonably priced, it looks like you can get a decent one for under $50, so it wont be break my wallet if it doesn't work. Im not sure how this whole process would work, but my concern is that whatever connection is used to transmit the video to the screen cant handle a higher resolution.
**** i am not even sure if the CANBUS will allow a different camera in there, since it doesn't even seem to like certain light bulbs.

Its possible, but then you might loose those dotted lines on the screen. Because camera is integrated with them. I have a newer 2015+ XJ backup camera, but i dont know how to make it work with a 2011 wiring. Its different. Any feedback would be really appreciated.
