Default Homelink frustrations

My 2012 XJL's garage door opener hasn't been programmable since I got it last year. The lights work but I can't get it to work with either the old or new types of opener. Finally bought a used mirror and replaced the unit, but it acts the same. Took it to the dealer and they couldn't get it to program using the remote either. What are the odds I got two faulty units? Anyone have any other ideas? Scratching my head on this one. My 2016 XF works with both doors, so I don't think it is that.

The Homelink on my 2013 XJ has always had trouble pairing with my garage door openers. And the solution has bee to install a homelink Bridge. https://homelink.com/compatibility-bridge
