I followed the directions about a dozen times and finally just picked up a cheap universal remote, got it working and then used it to program the jag..

i got a remote and was able to program the transmitter on the mirror. I pulled car in garage and hit the learn button on the opener. Then pressed the transmitter button, held for 2 seconds, three times. NOTHING. Did it 3 times. Am ready to give up

what manufacturer and model is your garage door opener? Some have specific procedures for homelink transmitters that is different from the jaguar provided one.

Genie ISD995. It's not as if I haven't done this before. I already have 2 cars, 2014 Mustang and 2011 Genesis, that I have programmed to work w this opener. Jaguar just has to be different

I found the directions for my 2018 XE to be incorrect. Having gone through it before with the F-type, I did some guessing and got it to work.

I don't think it actually is different, as I'm relatively certain that the entire device is made by HomeLink, not by Jaguar. Mine worked exactly like my other vehicles with HomeLink transmitters. I just had to follow the instructions that came with my garage door opener. Best of luck getting yours to work.

If your Genie utilizes a Rolling Code, you might need a helper to actuate the LEARN button on your opener while you work the Jag's mirror button.

The Homelink instructions mention this tip, and that's what I needed to do on my newest garage.

You don't need another remote to program your car and the Jaguar instructions didn't work on my car either.
First follow the Jaguar manual to clear all codes and reset the Homelink in the car. Then follow the instructions on the Homelink web site to program your car https://www.homelink.com/program/process/1
It give instruction specific to the make and model of car. That work on my car and a couple others. hopefully it will work for you.
Good Luck

Just remember, with the code programmed into your mirror, it is an invitation to thief’s and vandals. Happens twice in our neighborhood, left the car outside for some reason, overnight. Wake to find kids or worse in your garage or house. We just use a very small remote that fits on the keychain. Buy it on Amazon. $32. No means of opening from inside the car - unless us at you leave the keys in the car.

This was a great resource and thanks for posting it. Used it with my new garage door opener and it worked perfectly first time on my XK8!

I had to start my car in order to program the mirror garage door opener. My mirror GDO will not work unless the car is running.

Yeah, I have to have the electronics 'active' (START pressed, engine doesn't need to run) for the mirror controls to work.

Caused me some agida when programming, because the power turns off after ~5 minutes.

I have a 2018 F-Type R. I tried following the instructions in the manual, the Jaguar web site, and even the Homelink site. After calling Homelink they told me that I have a newer garage door opener that uses Homelink version 3 or greater. It is incompatible with the version of Homelink in the Jaguar. The version of Homelink in the 2018 Jaguar is pre-2011.
They checked my VIN and confirmed that the 2018 Jag’s Homelink wouldn’t work with my opener, so they are sending a free Homelink Bridge kit. This kit makes Homelink 2.0 transmitters work with newer openers.
Note: my other 3 vehicles (Porsche, BMW, Lexus) didn’t have any issues. Add this to the list of “features” of a Jag ;-)

@BRITDRIVER 's Homelink needed a bridge module too. I bet he's jealous that you got yours for free.
