I have been searching for a deal on a 2018 XJ for a while. Last night a dealer in the Northeast accepted my offer of a $26,000 discount on an XJL. Someone would call me in the next morning to take a deposit and tie things down. Wonderful, I compared planes, trains and one way automobile rentals to get there. Made my choice of travel, all set....no one called. I called, someone already made a deposit, apparently between after closing and the next morning. Ok...sure. I indicated I would watch their website to see if the deal fell through and the car is listed. It's still listed. I'll keep watching. I do have a plan B in another city, but this was my #1 choice of colors.

 

That really sucks. Im also pretty impressed they took off that much from the car. I wonder if they never actually accepted the offer and just sold it to someone willing to pay more.

My girlfriend handled the negotiations for my used XJ, and at some point during the exchange she called me and told me another couple was currently test driving the car, but as long as they didnt buy it, it was mine. I flipped out, and she started laughing manically. There was no other couple. Well played.

I won't be convinced there is another buyer until the car is removed from the dealers website.

 

I basically told her the same thing. I was fidgeting the whole time asking why it was still on the site. Even after i sent my deposit I was going nuts cuz it was still on their site. I had the same mentality, that until it was no longer on there, there was a chance that someone would ****** it up.
