ICTP Problem
I recently purchased a CPO 2017 XJL with the ICTP. Intermittently, the entire ICTP freezes up. First, the screen goes blank, then the music stops. After a minute or two, the small display on the instrument panel that can display music goes blank as well. After a few minutes, the system shuts down and reboots itself. I took it to the dealership and after a few days, they called and said that they had updated the software and everything was fixed. Well, three days later, it's doing it again. When the screen goes blank, I lose navigation and my backup camera. It's going back to the dealership this Friday. I was just wondering if anyone here had ever had this experience and if so, what the root cause of the problem was. The dealership says they've never heard of this problem before and seem like they are really trying to avoid replacing the unit.
I would start by checking the infotainment master controller in the boot/trunk left hand side above the wheel arch to make sure the connectors are all sound (wiggle everything). Check for any signs of water ingress either through a faulty boot/trunk seal allowing water to run under and around the opening or around the hinge/struts. Check the cooling fan operates (it is behind that plastic/insulated thing above the IMC). Do that yourself so you know they aren't fobbing you off. You need to remove the floor liner (two screws in the tie downs), then then rear plastic boot trim pulls up after removing two screws, and the side carpet pivots out from the front after removing the visible clips (rear and top). Only takes two minutes to do, and again to put back.
Did they tell you if the IMC had any DTCs logged before they updated the software? Even if a re-flash/update had resolved the symptoms it still requires further investigation to find the cause - software doesn't just randomly decide to corrupt itself.
If there is no obvious external cause the unit should be replaced. A 2017 will still be under the factory warranty regardless of any CPO warranty, and that should cover all diagnosis and repair costs.

Thanks! I'll check the master controller this evening and see if it looks like there are any problems.
They didn't mention if there were any DTC's logged before they updated the software. I did ask them and they said "they didn't think so". So not exactly reassuring. I have asked that if they can't get this resolved that they replace the unit. I'm being told that "Jaguar" won't just authorize a replacement, they have to have their technicians try and troubleshoot it first. Which is why it's going back on Friday.
This is all covered under warranty, so I'm not going to have to worry about the cost. It's just pain in what is otherwise a wonderful car.

The controller checked out fine and thanks for the advice xdave.
The dealership, for the third time, found another "software update" that was specific to the freezing problem. Since this was the second time I had been told this, I was/am very suspect. I will admit that it has helped, but about every 3rd or 4th start, the issue comes back. It isn't freezing up so far, but the music on the USB reverts back to song #1 and loses that fact that it's supposed to be on "shuffle". Tried a smaller jump drive, changed the format from FAT32 to FAT and back again. No difference. I can live with having to switch up the songs and turn back on the shuffle, but honestly, in a car like this, it shouldn't be necessary. My 2013 Range Rover Sport and 2015 F Type don't have this problem. I even switched out the jump drive from the XJ and tried it in the other two vehicles. No issues at all. And yes, I understand they are different units so I'm not comparing "apples to apples". I'll just have to wait and see if the freezing comes back.
